Valentine’s day in 2022 unlike the last two years, which has been on the weekend, has fallen on a Monday. Yes, yes, I know how we all feel about Mondays. But its on this date and we can either complain or make the most of it. Luckily, this isn’t the first time that valentine’s day has fallen on the dreaded day.

Feb 14th being on a Monday is especially tricky if you have kids, a demanding job, studies, and other responsibilities. I am sure all of us would just like to come home, help the kids with homework, prepare dinner, and go to bed getting ready for the next day.

Netflix and Chill

This is the simplest and fun way to spend your Valentine’s Day. This involves you and your sweetheart, wrapped in a warm blanked watching movies together. Nothing can be simpler.

This has the added benefit of spending it at home and can be done even if you have kids. After sending them to bed, the two of you can pick romantic movie titles and start watching.

Even though you will be in the house, I advise both of you to shower and dress up so that you commemorate the day. During this time, you can give each other flowers and chocolate.

You can spice up each game from the normal poker to strip poker and have a saucy night. Your only hope here would ensure your spouse isn’t better than you.

Star gazing

Do you live in an apartment where you have access to the roof, or do you have a backyard where you can see the stars? If the answer is yes to any of the two then you can carry a couple of foldable chairs and a warm outdoor blanket and go look at the stars.

If the 14^th will be a clear day, you can look at the stars. Since none of you are astronauts, apologies to the ones who are, you can use a stargazing app to help you identify constellations in the sky. To make it more interesting you can tell each other the back story of the stars.

Hotel Stay

For those who have a bit more change in their pockets going to a hotel is a great idea. During this time many hotels normally have great offers for dinner and the room. You will get great service from the restaurant and when you are done eating you can go to the room.

The advantage to booking a hotel rather than staying at home is that you don’t have to worry about dirty dishes and cleaning up. Also, most hotels have amazing restaurants, and you can literally have your cake and eat it.

In the morning you can both go to your respective jobs without interfering with your schedules. There are plenty of hotels to chose from in Nairobi, from budget hotels to 5-star ones.
